Value added Products
- We must explain farmers about
principles and techniques of processing to add value to the fruits and
vegetables.
- Processing converts perishable fruits
and vegetables into stable products with longer life.
- It is not merely to satisfy farmers
by way of higher monetary return but also with better taste and nutrition to
the consumers.
- Value is added to the produce by
changing their form, colour to increase the shelf life of perishables.
- In the current scenario, there is an
urgent need to increase the level of value addition and to improve the quality
of value added food products for domestic and export market.
- Govt. , NRI’s & Local
industrialists must come forward to set up various processed products viz.
juices and beverages, pulps and concentrates, canned products, frozen,
dehydrated products, ketchup, sauces, pickles, chutneys, jam, jelly, preserved
products, candy, glazed fruits and citrus peels etc. can be produced from
fruits and vegetables.
- In Chittoor
district tomato farmers can prepare Tomato Juice, Puree, Paste & Pickle and
sell them as value added product for better price rather throwing them on the
roadside.
- We can
prepare & sell Chutney, Ketchup, sauce, Soup, Canning of Tomato; Dehydrated
products from tomato; By-product utilization in tomato with Quality assurance
in food processing
